The Trip
Last fall I took Randy to see the Getty. It was the first time that
either of us had been there. For the most part Randy and I enjoyed
the same things, especially the impressionist paintings. When we
got to works like the illuminated manuscripts or the glassware we both
decided to walk through quickly.
Sally wanted to see the Raphael exhibit at the Getty and we decided
that super bowl sunday would be a great day to go since the place would
probably be empty. As it turned out we got the date for the Raphael
exhibit wrong, but we had a nice time at the museum anyway. Interesting,
the things that Sally liked the most were the illuminated manuscripts and
the glassware, although she also enjoyed the impressionist paintings (perhaps
she is just more artistic than her husband or daughter). Unfortunately,
near the start of our trip I lost a contact lens while taking a picture
and had to walk around half blind for the rest of the day.
Pictures
Outside of the Getty
The Getty is a beautiful place and I took quite a few photos of the Building
itself
Inside the Getty
The Architecture is impressive, but I don't have a wide angle lens so I
didn't take as many pictures
The Gardens
Views from the Getty
The Getty is up on a hill and provides a wonderful view of the westside
The Art
You cannot take flash pictures inside the Getty, so I didn't take many
photos. Objects like the illuminated manuscripts are light sensitive
and are kept in fairly dark rooms.
